How to Chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra

For chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, you can use any mala with 108 beads. Place the mala on your middle finger, being careful not to let the index finger touch it.

Before starting the mantra, chant the Pancha Tatva mantra. The Hare Krishna mantra is inseparable from the Lord, so chanting it can absolve sins, but chant the Pancha Tatva mantra first.

You can chant while walking or sitting, but avoid chanting while lying down, as it's considered tamasic. However, if you're unwell or bedridden, you can chant lying down. Ideally, chant during the Brahma Muhurta (early morning), but you can chant anytime without bathing if necessary.

You can chant near a Tulsi plant or in front of a deity. Ensure the mala doesn't touch the ground and hold it with your left hand or use a chanting bag. You can also use a witness mala to count rounds. These items are easily available in Hare Krishna temples or online.
