26th January is celebrated with great pomp & fervor throughout our country as the Republic Day. It honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect in the year 1950 as the primary governing document of this sovereign & democratic republic. At present, it consists of 448 articles grouped into 25 parts which is law-abiding for nearly 135 crore citizens of this vast, variegated nation.
The most astonishing part is that this Supreme Law of India which sets out fundamental rights, directive principles, and duties of the citizens is required to be changed & corrected every now & then. Despite the difficult supermajority requirement for an amendment to pass, the Indian constitution is the world's most frequently-amended national document which has been altered for more than 100 times since inception.
On the other side, we get information from the Mahābhārat (Śānti-parva) that the same Bhagavad-gita which was imparted to Arjuna was first spoken to sun-god, Vivasvān in the beginning of treta-yuga even before the birth of current Manu. This time is calculated to be roughly 12 crore years in the past. It clearly means that there has not been a single amendment made in this spiritual document from last 12 crore years & it still remains the most suitable text available for guiding the human society in modern times.
Being the largest written constitution in the world with over 1 lakh words in English language, Indian constitution is way too complex for a common man to understand & is therefore often considered as a paradise of lawyers. Whereas, Lord Krishna explained the knowledge of Bhagavad-gita in a very straightforward, lucid manner in just 700 shlokas which can be very easily understood & applied under the guidance of a bona-fide spiritual master.
On the contrary, major part of Indian constitution was borrowed from the Govt. of India Act, 1935 originally drafted by Britishers to rule over India as a slave country & therefore many provisions in it have become obsolete in today’s times. This was the reason that in year 1953, i.e. just after 3 years of its coming into effect, the chief architect of Indian constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was so upset with its drawbacks that during an address in the parliament, he said that he wanted to “burn it out”.
But the philosophy that Bhagavad-gita offers is so universal & advanced that the same science which was explained to Arjuna on planet earth is equally suitable for higher celestial beings residing in heavenly planets situated far-far away from earth that too in a different time scale. It is uniformly applicable irrespective of time, place, circumstances or even species, regardless of whether you are on earth or on the sun, whether you are a tiny human being or a great demigod controlling universal affairs.
The whole idea is not to disgrace or humiliate our reputed constitution but to have a different approach & realize that if we are asked to follow & place our faith in this national doctrine in spite of many imperfections, then that same conviction & solidarity should also be invested in this universal constitution beautifully explained by the creator Himself for our ultimate good.
Just imagine the kind of perfect, unadulterated knowledge & wisdom that we get from such a small book which in itself has a capacity to liberate us from all material miseries & elevate us back to godhead. Therefore, this Republic Day, when you celebrate the anniversary of Indian Constitution, take out time to understand & apply this Universal constitution in your life.
26 जनवरी को हमारे देश भर में गणतंत्र दिवस के रूप में बहुत धूमधाम और हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है। यह उस तारीख का सम्मान करता है जिस दिन भारत का संविधान इस संप्रभु और लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य के प्राथमिक शासकीय दस्तावेज के रूप में वर्ष 1950 में लागू हुआ था। वर्तमान में, इसमें 25 भागों में समूहित 448 अनुच्छेद शामिल हैं जो इस विशाल, विविध राष्ट्र के लगभग 135 करोड़ नागरिकों के लिए कानून का पालन करने वाला है।
सबसे आश्चर्यजनक बात यह है कि भारत का यह सर्वोच्च कानून जो नागरिकों के मौलिक अधिकारों, निदेशक सिद्धांतों और कर्तव्यों को निर्धारित करता है, उसे समय-समय पर बदलने और सही करने की आवश्यकता होती है। किसी संशोधन को पारित करने के लिए सर्वोच्च बहुमत की कठिन आवश्यकता के बावजूद, भारतीय संविधान दुनिया का सबसे अधिक बार संशोधित होने वाला राष्ट्रीय दस्तावेज है जिसे इसकी स्थापना के बाद से 100 से अधिक बार बदला गया है।
दूसरी ओर, हमें महाभारत (शांति-पर्व) से जानकारी मिलती है कि वही भगवद-गीता जो अर्जुन को दी गई थी, वह वर्तमान मनु के जन्म से भी पहले त्रेता-युग की शुरुआत में सूर्य-देव विवस्वान को बोली गई थी। . इस समय की गणना लगभग 12 करोड़ वर्ष पूर्व की जाती है। इसका स्पष्ट अर्थ है कि इस आध्यात्मिक दस्तावेज़ में पिछले 12 करोड़ वर्षों से एक भी संशोधन नहीं किया गया है और यह आज भी आधुनिक समय में मानव समाज का मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए उपलब्ध सबसे उपयुक्त पाठ बना हुआ है।
अंग्रेजी भाषा में 1 लाख से अधिक शब्दों के साथ दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा लिखित संविधान होने के नाते, भारतीय संविधान एक आम आदमी के लिए समझने के लिए बहुत जटिल है और इसलिए इसे अक्सर वकीलों का स्वर्ग माना जाता है। जबकि, भगवान कृष्ण ने भगवद-गीता के ज्ञान को केवल 700 श्लोकों में बहुत ही सरल, स्पष्ट तरीके से समझाया, जिसे एक प्रामाणिक आध्यात्मिक गुरु के मार्गदर्शन में बहुत आसानी से समझा और लागू किया जा सकता है।
इसके विपरीत, भारतीय संविधान का अधिकांश भाग सरकार से उधार लिया गया था। भारत अधिनियम, 1935 मूल रूप से अंग्रेजों द्वारा भारत पर एक गुलाम देश के रूप में शासन करने के लिए तैयार किया गया था और इसलिए इसमें कई प्रावधान आज के समय में अप्रचलित हो गए हैं। यही कारण था कि वर्ष 1953 में, यानी इसके लागू होने के ठीक 3 साल बाद, भारतीय संविधान के मुख्य वास्तुकार डॉ. बी.आर. अम्बेडकर इसकी कमियों से इतने परेशान थे कि संसद में एक भाषण के दौरान उन्होंने कहा कि वह इसे "जला देना" चाहते थे।
लेकिन भगवद-गीता द्वारा प्रस्तुत दर्शन इतना सार्वभौमिक और उन्नत है कि वही विज्ञान जो पृथ्वी ग्रह पर अर्जुन को समझाया गया था, वह पृथ्वी से बहुत दूर स्थित स्वर्गीय ग्रहों में रहने वाले उच्च खगोलीय प्राणियों के लिए भी उतना ही उपयुक्त है, वह भी एक अलग समय के पैमाने पर . यह समय, स्थान, परिस्थितियों या यहां तक कि प्रजातियों के बावजूद समान रूप से लागू होता है, भले ही आप पृथ्वी पर हों या सूर्य पर, चाहे आप एक छोटे से इंसान हों या सार्वभौमिक मामलों को नियंत्रित करने वाले एक महान देवता हों।
संपूर्ण विचार हमारे प्रतिष्ठित संविधान का अपमान करना या अपमानित करना नहीं है, बल्कि एक अलग दृष्टिकोण रखना और यह महसूस करना है कि यदि हमें कई खामियों के बावजूद इस राष्ट्रीय सिद्धांत का पालन करने और उसमें अपना विश्वास रखने के लिए कहा जाता है, तो वही दृढ़ विश्वास और एकजुटता भी होनी चाहिए। हमारे परम हित के लिए स्वयं निर्माता द्वारा खूबसूरती से समझाए गए इस सार्वभौमिक संविधान में निवेश किया गया है।
ज़रा कल्पना करें कि एक छोटी सी किताब से हमें कितना उत्तम, शुद्ध ज्ञान और बुद्धि मिलती है जो अपने आप में हमें सभी भौतिक दुखों से मुक्त करने और हमें वापस भगवान के पास ले जाने की क्षमता रखती है। इसलिए, इस गणतंत्र दिवस पर, जब आप भारतीय संविधान की वर्षगांठ मनाते हैं, तो इस सार्वभौमिक संविधान को समझने और अपने जीवन में लागू करने के लिए समय निकालें।
