The auspicious advent day of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita's is known as Gita Jayanti. On this day more than 5000 years ago, Lord Krishna taught Arjuna the essence of Vedic knowledge and enlightened him to the meaning of existence. According to the Gita-Mahatmya, if one properly follows the instructions of Bhagavad Gita, he can be liberated from all suffering and worries in this life, and his next life will be a spiritual one.
The phrase "Bhagavad Gita" translates as "the song of the Supreme Lord." It is the body of Vedic literature that is most well-known worldwide. This day serves as a reminder of the day when Lord Sri Krishna spoke to His devotee Arjuna the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
At Hare Krishna Mandir, we will be celebrating this day by erecting an exhibition of Krishna-Parthsarthy in the main temple hall. We will be reciting all the Bhagavad Gita 700 verses together with the devotees. Join us in this Gita Parayana.
