More about Narasimha Jayanti

The demoniac father of Prahlada, Hiranyakashipu had received a special benediction from Lord Brahma that he could not be killed by any human being, demigod, animal or any other entity. He also could not be killed by any kind of weapons, neither during day or night. So, in order to meet all the above-mentioned conditions, Lord Krishna appeared in half-man, half-lion form and killed Hiranyakashipu with His nails at twilight.
