The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an independent institution authored by ISKCON Bangalore. It has separate books of accounts and the Board of Trustees. The day-to-day operations of The Akshaya Patra Foundation are overseen by the full-time missionaries of HKM Ahmedabad
The Akshaya Patra Foundation started its activities in Gujarat in July 2007, with the first kitchen in Gandhinagar, inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi.
The kitchen in Vadodara (Baroda) was established in the year 2009. 1,31,093 children of 614 schools are benefitted by the mid-day meal program from this kitchen.
The kitchen in Surat was inaugurated on June 11, 2012. This state-of-the-art kitchen facility provides mid-day meals to 1,67,590 children of 380 schools in the city of Surat.
On June 7, 2017, The Akshaya Patra Foundation opened a new centralized kitchen in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. The kitchen, which has the capacity to cook mid-day meals for 50,000 children, was inaugurated by Shri Vijay Rupani, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat at Jawahar Ground, Bhavnagar.
