Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the most celebrated Hindu festivals that marks the triumph of good over evil. In 2025, Dussehra falls on Thursday, 2 October 2025, the tenth day of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Ashvin.
At Hare Krishna Mandir, we invite you to join us in honoring Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana, and the divine power of Goddess Durga, who defeated the demon Mahishasura. This day is a reminder that righteousness always prevails.
Dussehra commemorates the victory of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Vishnu, over the demon king Ravana, who abducted Sita. It also marks the conclusion of Navratri, and in Eastern India, it is celebrated as the final day of Durga Puja, symbolizing Goddess Durga’s victory over evil forces.
This festival is deeply rooted in the Ramayana and is observed with Ramlila performances, effigy burning, and devotional gatherings across India.
AtHare Krishna Mandir, Dussehra is celebrated with spiritual fervor and cultural richness. The day begins with special pujas, bhajans, and discourses on the Ramayana.
Devotees gather to witness Rama’s victory lila, followed by aarti, prasadam distribution, and cultural programs. Children participate in Ramayana storytelling, and the temple is decorated with flowers and lights to mark the occasion.
