Radhashtami 2026 will be celebrated on Saturday, 19 September 2026, marking the appearance day of Srimati Radharani, the eternal consort of Lord Krishna. This sacred festival falls on the Ashtami tithi (eighth lunar day) of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada (August–September).
For Gaudiya Vaishnavas and Krishna devotees worldwide, Radhashtami is not just a festival – it is a day to remember the embodiment of pure devotion and the most merciful mother of all living beings.
According to the scriptures, Radharani appeared from the sacrificial ground of Vrishbhanu Maharaj in Barsana, which remains the heart of Radhashtami celebrations. She is revered as an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and is described in the Vedas and Puranas as Krishna Vallabha – the one who brings joy to Krishna.
It is said that worship of Lord Krishna is incomplete without the worship of Srimati Radharani. On this day, devotees seek Her blessings to attain Krishna-prema (pure love for Krishna).
AtHare Krishna Mandir, Radhashtami is celebrated with grand abhishekam, kirtans, bhajans, and cultural programs. The Deities of Sri Radha-Krishna are adorned in new outfits and decorated with fresh flowers.
Devotees sing Sri Radhikashtakam, offer 108 varieties of bhoga, and perform aarti with deep devotion. The temple atmosphere is filled with fragrance, music, and joy as hundreds of devotees gather to witness the celebrations.
Fasting: Devotees observe a Radhashtami vrat, often eating only fruits once in the day.
Abhishekam: Bathe the deities with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar) and fruit juices.
Decoration: Adorn the altar with five-colored powders and draw a sixteen-petalled lotus yantra.
Offerings: Present incense, lamps, flowers, and bhoga to Radha-Krishna.
Kirtan & Aarti: Sing Sri Radhikashtakam and perform aarti with heartfelt devotion.
